Black earth roots

Black earth roots

Her roots planted firmly within him,
the black earth,
delving into past history,
hardened by temper and frustrations,
nothing more pleasant than her elation,
patient dedication,
her branches a healthy dark green,
soaking on his nutrition,
saplings grow beneath the canopy,
only the surface many see,
below remains solidarity,
sheltering youth,
take their place,
shifting silhouettes,
slowly she retreats,
continuing to guide and nourish,
